{"id":1217,"date":"2015-10-15T13:37:37","date_gmt":"2015-10-15T17:37:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.florist20.com\/blog\/?p=1217"},"modified":"2015-10-15T13:37:37","modified_gmt":"2015-10-15T17:37:37","slug":"flower-giveaway-goes-viral","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.florist20.com\/blog\/uncategorized\/flower-giveaway-goes-viral","title":{"rendered":"Flower Giveaway Goes Viral"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Wednesday, Oct. 7, thousands of people had a most remarkable &#8220;hump day.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s because dozens of industry professionals \u2014 including growers, wholesalers and retailers\u2014 devoted several hours to pass out complimentary bouquets during a feel-good campaign called &#8220;Petal It Forward.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Playing off the &#8220;pay it forward&#8221; concept, in which people perform random acts of kindness for strangers and urge them to keep the goodwill going, Petal It Forward participants handed out pairs of bouquets, one for the lucky recipient to keep and another to pass off. To encourage members to replicate Petal it Forward in their own communities, SAF provided <a href=\"http:\/\/safnow.org\/trends-statistics\/consumer-research\/petalitforward\/\">templates for t-shirts, signage and press releases<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>At press time, SAF had learned of 44 Petal It Forward individual events. It was a great example of the power of flowers to form connections.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>She marveled at how people responded to the challenge to\u00a0spread the good feelings.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As much as people loved receiving the flowers for themselves, the majority seemed even more interested in giving flowers to someone else,&#8221; Sparks said. &#8220;So many people simply walked down the street and gave flowers to complete strangers.
