As Design Star, Hulsey will lead several workshops at Mayesh branches this year and create design videos throughout 2017.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Yvonne Ashton, Mayesh\u2019s director of marketing, said judges were impressed with Hulsey\u2019s \u201cpersonality, extensive business insights with events as well as retail, and experience teaching.\u201d Her application included a story about rebranding and reviving her family business, \u201cwhich will resonate with our community,\u201d Ashton said. \u201cTo top it all off, <a href=\"https:\/\/christygrinerhulsey.squarespace.com\">her design style is beautiful<\/a>!\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.florist20.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/photo1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-2055 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.florist20.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/photo1-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"photo1\" width=\"233\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.florist20.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/photo1-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.florist20.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/photo1-400x600.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.florist20.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/photo1.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 233px) 100vw, 233px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Judges also admired Hulsey\u2019s detailed workshop itinerary. \u201cChristy has a very clear direction for what and how she&#8217;s going to teach and it\u2019s clear she wants to provide great value to all who attend her workshop,\u201d Ashton added.<\/p>\n<p>Hulsey told Florist 2.0 she was honored and ecstatic to be named the 2017 Design Star, but said the title was a bit of a misnomer\u00a0\u2014&#8221;honestly, we entered as a team,\u201d she said. \u201cWe talked about it in the studio, with my sister, and at home. We all decided we had to join <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mayesh.com\/\">Mayesh<\/a> in the quest to teach the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.colonialhouse.net\/pages\/about-us\">Colonial House of Flowers team<\/a> members agreed they had a good story to tell. \u201cOur shop is a traditional florist&#8217;s shop,\u201d Hulsey said. \u201cWe have five-star corporate clients and huge destination weddings, but we do casket sprays, prom corsages, and bud vases, too! There\u2019s no place like our place; every day is a workshop with constant learning, listening, and growing. I love the pace and the flurry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A mother of two, Hulsey said she\u2019s excited to get back out into the world, traveling to various Mayesh locations.
