Augusto Solano, CEO of Asocolflores, the association of Colombian floral exporters, approached Schwanke to tell the stories of his country&#8217;s flowers. Schwanke has previously done documentaries on the <a href=\"https:\/\/ubloom.com\/flowers\/video\/california-grown-series\/\">California floral industry<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/ubloom.com\/flowers\/video\/florida-fresh-series\/\">Florida&#8217;s foliages<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The title corresponds to Asocolflores&#8217; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/FlowersofCol\/\">new brand<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As we all know, this is a global industry and flowers come from all over the world,&#8221; Schwanke said. &#8220;I think that&#8217;s so cool! Some episodes include behind the scenes tours of farms, while others were shot at Proflora. Viewers will learn about growing<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2684\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2684\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.florist20.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_9197.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2684\" src=\"https:\/\/www.florist20.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_9197-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.florist20.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_9197-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.florist20.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_9197-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.florist20.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_9197-600x800.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2684\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">J Schwanke interviews Eli Perez of Rosamina.<br \/>Photo courtesy of uBloom.com<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>techniques, new varieties, sustainability efforts, social programs benefitting workers and the passion that goes into stem.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It will definitely show the human emotions involved in the Colombian floral industry,&#8221; Schwanke. &#8220;It&#8217;s fitting, because that&#8217;s what florists sell&#8211;emotions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Schwanke said part of what drove him to create this series were the various factions he&#8217;s seen pop up in the industry recently.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I can&#8217;t embrace drawing lines in the sand over a flower&#8217;s origins,&#8221; he said. &#8220;What the industry needs is more flowers in more homes more often. Period. It doesn&#8217;t matter where they&#8217;re grown&#8211;or where they&#8217;re sold, for that matter. We just need more flower consumers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As with &#8220;The California Grown Experience&#8221; and &#8220;The Florida Fresh Foliage and Flower Tour,&#8221; &#8220;Flowers of Colombia&#8221; will be available for free on <a href=\"http:\/\/uBloom.com\">uBloom.com\u00a0<\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/jmhschwanke\">YouTube<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Schwanke said he plans to continue introducing viewers to flower professionals around the world, and hopes to visit Kenya and Russia soon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fancy a trip to South America?
