The American Floral Endowment wants you to capture your passion for petals in a short video.<\/p>\n<p>AFE&#8217;s #FlowerLoveVideoContest launched October 12 and runs through December 8. Contestants may enter a video up to 60 seconds long for the chance to win $4,000.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><a href=\"https:\/\/www.florist20.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Screen-Shot-2017-10-20-at-9.20.37-AM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2689 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.florist20.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Screen-Shot-2017-10-20-at-9.20.37-AM-300x128.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"128\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.florist20.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Screen-Shot-2017-10-20-at-9.20.37-AM-300x128.png 300w, https:\/\/www.florist20.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Screen-Shot-2017-10-20-at-9.20.37-AM-768x326.png 768w, https:\/\/www.florist20.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Screen-Shot-2017-10-20-at-9.20.37-AM-1024x435.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.florist20.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Screen-Shot-2017-10-20-at-9.20.37-AM-600x255.png 600w, https:\/\/www.florist20.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Screen-Shot-2017-10-20-at-9.20.37-AM.png 1148w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The idea came about a few months ago, said AFE Executive Director Debi Chedester.\u00a0The Floral Marketing Research Fund, an arm of the AFE, had a committee meeting to discuss ways to promote flower consumption in a way that would help every segment of the industry.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The point came up that some businesses, especially small retailers, may have a very small marketing budget \u2014 or none at all,&#8221; she said. &#8220;So we wanted to do something to provide them with material they can share.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>All contest entries will go into a master video library, which florists can mine to use in their own social media posts, Chedester said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re hoping to get a lot of submissions that show everyday flowers, so there are a lot of opportunities for florists to share them all year,&#8221; she said, adding that footage from last week&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/safnow.org\/trends-statistics\/consumer-research\/petalitforward\/\">Petal It Forward<\/a> events would be very appropriate.<\/p>\n<p>There are three ways to enter:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Upload a video to\u00a0http:\/\/contest.endowment.org.<\/li>\n<li>Tweet a video with a caption and include the hashtag #FlowerLoveVideoContest.<\/li>\n<li>Upload a video to Instagram with the hashtag.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>(Note: If you upload the video to social media\u00a0\u2014 which will help spread the message of &#8220;flower love&#8221; with consumers\u00a0\u2014 be sure your accounts are made public.)<\/p>\n<p>A selection committee consisting of members from AFE&#8217;s Young Professionals Council and other industry professionals will evaluate videos&#8217; originality, quality and commercial appeal. The committee will name finalists and the public will then vote to determine the Grand Prize winner.<\/p>\n<p>The entries that come in 2nd and 3rd place will receive an honorable mention and $500.<\/p>\n<p>The contest is sponsored by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asocolflores.org\/\">Asocolflores<\/a>.
