We florists all know there are many ways to artfully design a dozen roses and make flower gifting a memorable experience for both customers and recipients.

In the spirit of fun competition, we’re running a design contest open to all FC members. The top 12 vote getting designs will be featured in an article called “A Dozen Ways to Send a Dozen Roses”. The article will include a link to each winner’s shop website.

Photo designs must be uploaded to the special section of the FC image gallery. Uploading will begin on Sunday, September 14 and will run through Sunday, September 28. Votes may be cast from Monday, September 29 through midnight Eastern Standard Time Tuesday, Sunday October 5.

The rules:

1) Only one entry per FC member.
2) The design must include exactly12 roses and cannot include any additional feature, focal, line or form flowers.
3) The design may include filler (small accent) flowers, foliages, container and non-floral accessories. (The accessories should not visually overwhelm the roses.)
4) All fresh materials must have an adequate water source.
5) The submitted design must include a brief description of the arrangement and name the rose variety(ies) used.

Voting:

1) Votes and comments will be visible to all FC members and the public.
2) FC members will vote by assigning ratings to individual designs. A member may only vote on a single arrangement once, but can vote for as many as they choose.
3) Comments (professional, of course) are highly recommended.
4) Low votes (4’s and below) without comments will be deleted by the Admin Team.
5) The top 12 winners will be the members with the highest point totals as of 12 p.m. midnight, Eastern Time, Sunday October 5.

We florists should rule search results when it comes to ideas for sending a dozen roses, but unfortunately, most consumers find info from drop-shippers. Let’s show flower lovers there’s more to a dozen roses than a cloud of babies’ breath on a bed of leather leaf.

Ladies and Gentlemen: start your creative juices flowing and get those knives moving. (I’m especially hoping some of our members will use cool, unusual rose varieties and create designs for non-traditional recipients.) :)
