what do you do to make an arch between to arrangements

to go over an urn for a funeral visitation.

I did another one today and was too dang swamped to get a picture of it...

its an arch of grape vine /twigs that joins the 2 side arrangements together.

I have in the past done it as 2 over lapping pieces.
this one i did as one 1/2 moon thingy.


do you use a wire frame to build on?

how do you keep it stable?

I would have liked more arch today but couldn't get it to be strong enough ..

I use curly willow most of the time.The pieces are never oversized so the willow works fine.You could use the deco wire to give it more support

I use curly willow or pussy willows.

I ALWAYS make it two separate pieces though to make it easier for the family or funeral directors to move them afterwards. When they are set up, the give the appearance of being one arch.

Either of those is much more stable than grapevine. I LOVE using pussy willows because I can shape them exactly how I want them. (They have to have some green in them though, I just keep them in the cooler to keep them pliable.)
