Hello, Everyone! My background originated from Pittsburgh, PA & Youngstown, OH where I grew up in greenhouses, nurseries, and a floral shop. My great-grandmother started the whole ball rolling in the 1920's and the floral shop still stands today.

I currently own a floral shop that serves all the local communities of Dayton, NV. This is the Old West country - where the famous Marilyn Monroe & Clark Gable filmed their last movie. Where the 1800 cowboys still thrive via Virginia City & the Comstock Lode.

I come to this forum with a passion to help fellow florists with business, floral marketing, floral designs, and humor. I am not a big fan of corporate Teleflora/FTD/Bloomlink, etc. because every floral shop is faced with a different local economy and prices for these companies keep going up. So, I opt for web sites like Flowerchat.com because I find the beauty of all these ideas refreshing, & it reminds me of once more being in a college classroom. Thank You!

Welcome to FC Cowboy!

Welcome to FC Cowboy!

We need as many Cowboys and Cowgirls on this board as is possible.

Feel free to share your knowledge and frustrations at anytime, and make no mistake that, most of us REAL FLORISTS are no fans of those who put corporate greed above the best interests of the current and more likely, FORMER PARTNERS!

FC grows bigger and faster, each and everyday. I personally think that, this forum will create a viable GOOD VERSION of a FRANKENSTEIN MONSTER which will be a able to wrestle their BAD VERSION to the ground.

Any GOLD still left in DEM DER HILLS? It's all gone now from DA BRAND!

LOL No Cowboy here !

Sigh! I'm sorry - I'm no cowgirl - yet! Lots of wild mustangs roaming the sides of hills and free range. Notice that I say - yet! I am still city for the most part - however, I did get chickens and cats and dogs. Still no horse or cow! LOL And, I'm Asian - so that makes for a funny Cowgirl in these parts! :)

Thank You To Everyone!

Thanks for such a warm greeting! And, I see that I am not the only Nevadan out here - Yerington - Lyon County! Actually, I'm a newbie to Nevada ( going on 2 years ) but, I reckon I'll be "accepted" within 20 years! LOL Again, thank you for the very warm reception. Look forward to bouncing ideas and passing around knowledge so that florists across the nation do not become a dying breed! Sigh .... when I was in London, I would watch the designers at Harrod's with such envy! Florists in most of Europe are treated almost like royalty! I hope to one day retire in England and spend the remainder of my days reading the classics - the British can tell such wonderful stories!

OK Then, send me some.....................

Bangers an Mash or Fish & Chips!

I love em! As to going to HARRAHS (versus Harrod's), I too, get treated like ROYALTY, or at least until, they've managed to TAKE ALL MY MONEY at the BLACKJACK TABLES! After that, and when my CASH IS GONE, it's BEGONE TOTO!, You have NO POWER HERE!

Now, did I tell you of my olden days when I was the Drum Major for the Mt Kisco Scottish Pipes and Drums Band, wearing the Cameron of Eracht Tartan Kilts? Did the cross over too for the Greenwich Celtic Pipes and Drums, the Armagh Pipes and Drums, the County Cork Pipes and Drums, and the County Monahan Pipes and Drums. That, my dear lady, is a SIGHT TO BEHOLD!

Which shop?

LOL I married full-blooded Irish - his parents came from Southern Ireland - met in London, married and came to San Francisco. And, I came from S. Korea - Pittsburgh - Cleveland/Youngstown - Ridgecrest, CA - to Lyon County, NV and married me own Leprechaun! Still trying to find that gold!
:kuddle:

Mt. Troy Florist - Mt. Troy Road, Pittsburgh, PA. I also remember growing up with Al & Lois Brenkle of Brenkle's Farms & Greenhouses - they are distant cousins. Mt. Troy is now owned by another lady - my great-uncle sold it to her a while back and passed away.

That's TOO FUNNY!

My Great Grandfather made a similar trek from Cork to London and then, through Ellis Island.

In addition, I also love Radish Kimchi, Galbee, and Job Chae.

As we Irish always like to say in Gaelic: Sae hae bok man e ba deu sa yo!
