FTD.com leads online retailers in September conversion rate, study says
Flowers and gifts retailer FTD.com posted the highest visitor-to-sales conversion rate in September, 22.8%, surpassing rival and second-ranked 1-800-Flowers at 18.5%, Nielsen/NetRatings says in its MegaView Online Retail report, which was released today.
Ranked third was security software company McAfee, at 15.7%, followed by eBay, 14.7%; QVC, 14.7%; Proflowers.com, 14.7%; Lands’ End, 13.5%; Symantec, 12.1%; Amazon.com, 11.3% and JCPenney.com, 10.1%.
The report also noted automotive was the online retail category with the highest average order size at $1.19 million, followed by computer hardware, $1.02 million; event and movie tickets, $143; consumer electronics, $102; office supplies, $84; sporting goods and outdoor activities, $81; home and garden, $47; food and beverage, $47; apparel and accessories, $44; and shoes and athletic footwear, $44.
