I find an image on a bride's facebook account that links to a bouquet on our site.

She links the .JPG so there is no link to my site, but shows the bouquet on her page.

She is showing her friends that she wants this same bouquet for her wedding. She makes another comment saying that she is going to show her florist that this is what she wants.

Is this illegal? My guess is no and I would be personally be flattered. BUT is there some law against a bride showing an image to her florist via MySpace or Facebook?

Change the image using the same jpg name to a dead flowers bouquet or something ridiculous like that.

Do it quick - it'll be a hoot. Grab a google search images for dead flowers and switch them out.

Post a link to her facebook back here so we can get a few yuks.

Don't you put a visible watermark on your images? That's been great advertising for us over the years.

No I don't think it's illegal - non-copyrighted stuff and all that. You could watermark your images, so at least you'd get some artistic credit for the image, but personally I wouldn't waste too much time being upset that she's showing her florist your photo. You might post on her page that you're so flattered she loves your bouquet ( if you can do it nicely ) ....

I borrow/steal ideas from florist sites all the time - my new favorite is a site in the Outer Banks area who does amazing handle treatments for her bouquets. Love it, and I'm absolutely using it for inspiration in some samples we're making for our consult area.

oh bloomz- :fdevil:you are sooo bad!! too funny! That poor girl. he he he

That was funny JB. :) - It's a hypothetical question that I came up with while designing my new site and I don't any law broken. And JB, forget dead flowers, how about Tub Girl? For the love of God DO NOT Google that or you will be washing out your eyes for a week.

And no RJD I don't watermark anything, in fact, any florist or anyone can use any of my images anytime they want. Want one of my pics? Go or it! :) - The better you do, the better I do. Navie? Not really. The success of my business is not based on my images, but my passion to lead. :)

/kicks Xenophobia in the nuts

Yeah, I don't think it is illegal if the bride's intentions are pure and isn't making money from it, but that is just my guess.

This is my favorite past time. I love going to florist websites for inspiration.
A writer cannot be a good writer if he stays at home with the lights off.
He needs to experience.
Don't you have brides come in with magazine clips of bouquets and ideas?
I love when they email me their ideas.....it saves me a bunch of time!!

I've seen it before, you'll be washing more than your eyes. For those that are curious, don't do it, you'll be scarred for life.

In order for you to see her full Facebook profile you must be 'friends' (computer term - not necessarily literal term) with her. Which means, she sent you a friend request and you replied 'sure, add me as a friend'. Since you are now 'friends' with her, you can add posts to her Facebook page.

What I would do is go to her profile, upload the same photo that she did, and write a message on her wall that says 'flowers so and so selected were designed by us at 'so and so flower shop, to see more of these fabulous designs go to www.flowershop.com (whatever your web address is). Then everyone who visits her Facebook page with see your name.

Or...2.) I would send her a message and ask her to list your shop name under your photo.

or...3.) Start watermarking your photos. It's easy, it's professional and you won't have to worry again if something is legal or not. Photos are stolen all the time...

Yo CopperCountry, WTF was that? Was that wikipedia copy and paste really necessary? I think a link would have sufficed. That synopsis was disturbing. Unfortunately my repulsion/compulsion forced me to read it. Kind of like when you know milk has gone bad, but you still smell it anyway just to make sure.

The admin's at Tubgirl. com are looking at their google analytics and wondering if they found a new demographic in florists.

Agreed - we were warned not to go there so someone brought it to us???

Yuch, edit that fukker and get rid of it - please.

And now when someone googles that awful site, they will get a hit for Flowerchat. Wow... that's awesome. Not.

PS I think this a time when censorship is called for.

I agree, Bloomz. I'm all for free speech, but don't we have a place for "dirty jokes". This is beyond dirty. It really doesn't belong in the reg. forum... if ANYWHERE.

I guess I should shut up about it now. LOL
