J Schwanke, AAF, AIFD, PFCI, launched a new and improved version of his online floral community, uBloom.com, Monday night.

“We’ve been working on an upgrade for a while,” he said. “We knew the old site was SLOW.”

UBloom.com, which Schwanke started in 2006, began as a place where florists could get design inspiration and instruction, and interact with each other on forums and by posting photos.

“Over the years, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and Twitter have all become very popular,” he said. “That seems to be where we see a lot of people doing those kinds of things.”

So, Schwanke, “the flower expert,” decided to focus on what he does best: flower education, instruction, and video. Here are the highlights of uBloom.com 3.0:

· How To Videos: These are now grouped into two channels: premium (requiring a membership) and free content.

Premium members can also search videos by skill (beginner, intermediate or advanced) or by subject matter, including:

-Wedding and Special Event Shows

-Flowers to Wear Show

-Sympathy Shows

-Color and Trend Shows

-Flowers for Kids

-Holiday Flowers

-Christmas Flowers

- JTV Vault

-Fun with Flowers and J

- Flower Farm Tours

The free channel includes “Fresh Cuts,” “Take 5 with J,” “Flowers 101,” “1001 Ideas,” and Schwanke’s documentary series: “Ca. Grown,” “Florida Fresh,” and “Destination Dallas.”

· An updated flower guide with hundreds of varieties

· the uBloom resource guide to find products featured close to home

· J’s blog

· an online store

“It's all about housing the VERY BEST in online video learning,” Schwanke said.

Membership rates have changed to $3.99 “or you can save 20 percent and sign up for a year,” Schwanke said.

UBloom.com 3.0 can also be read on a smartphone or tablet, he added.

“We wanted to make the site easy to join, easy to operate and easy to browse,” he said.
