Ryan, my interior pages are ranked at 0 and my home page is ranked 2 yet i still come out on the first three on google when a relevant search is done. How come and also what could i do to get more than a 0 on interior pages. Bear in mind i am not a techno person, so please be gentle with terminology. Thanks
PageRank is a measure of the popularity of your page via links. Think of PageRank like water flowing from page to page. A high PR page is like one of the great lakes and a PR 0 page is like a puddle.
Great lakes are big because a lot of water flowers into them. You get to be a high PR because of the people who link to you. When a high PR site links to you, you will receive a lot more "water" than if a puddle linked to you.
Now, think of every link coming in to each page on your site as a pipe bringing water. They are from different pages, with different PR values, so they are different pipe widths. Big pipes, little pipes - hopefully lots of pipes
Every link going OUT from you page is like a faucet flowing water out. The water pressure that your page has to offer is based on the incoming water pressure. (Just like upgrading your water service from the city to a larger pipe coming into the house will mean better showers in the morning!!)
The water pressure your page has to offer is divided equally amongst the links coming off your page. More links = less water pressure.
Your interior pages are PR1, the home page is PR2.
PR doesn't = ranking. It's one of ~255 factors.
