In only a few months, our FC Image Gallery has gone from no-where-to-be-found to the top search result for its terms.

First, I want to say Thanks to all the members who have shared their work. You many not have received comments or ratings yet but your creations have been enjoyed by many fellow florists as well as consumers looking for photos of designs.

As the collection gains popularity, you can help - and the gallery can help you.

Use Good Keywords

It would be great if members would use keywords that would help fellow-users find your shots later. Commonly used terms for style, color, feature flowers and occasions are best.

Link to Your Store from Your Descriptions

I don't believe in exploiting search engines but I do believe in giving credit where credit is due. Did you know you can put a link to your flower shop site or blog right from each image description? IMO doing this from each photo would be overkill, but an occasional link to your shop will connect your original designs to your business.

Big rounds of applause for Infinite, who added the gallery just this past April, and the FC members who have shared more than 250 unique designs so far.

There's no other flower place like this on the web. Congratulations!
 
This is great news. With the blog and image gallery at the top of the search engines our members have a great opportunity to boost their own site rankings.

BTW, Cathy, did you see who has the #5 result?

Beautiful work all!!!!
I will (someday) learn how to move pics etc and get involved in this....till then, YAY you all!!!
I get inspired every time I beam into the gallery....way cool designs and just amazing creativity!
But of course....only here on FC!!!
keep the designs coming!! I really do love seeing all the "magic" that we as floral people come up with!

Heh. #1 in Google for Flower Poodle.

Helps to name and tag your images with the most on-topic keywords. (Also helps if there aren't a ton of photos with similar tags already on the web.)

We only need 28 more photos to hit 300. :) Any member of FC can upload images and write comments or questions about other members' photos, too.

Sorry I overlooked your post. Uploading images to the gallery is easy.

Go to http://www.flowerchat.com/photopost/ . In the upper right corner you should see "Upload Photos". Click that and you'll be taken to a new screen. The default is to upload to your Member Gallery unless you want to add shots to one of the special projects areas. You can also create an album by topic but most members use their general gallery area.

Click the 'Browse' button to select a photo from your hard drive for uploading. (There's an option to upload multiple shots at once but I've found it simplest to add them one at a time.)

Write a title that clearly describes the topic of the photo, enter a description with as little or as much info as you want, and then add keywords most relevant to your image.

Press 'Upload/Submit' and Viola!, you're published.

We've had a few gallery bugs and glitches but everything is working perfectly now. The FC gallery is only 15 shy of 300 so please help us build the most comprehensive gallery of original floral designs on the web.

Remember, you can include the name of your store and add a link there in the description.
