I used heavy duty wrapping paper from Hobby Lobby for table runners. ($3 for one roll on sale = 90 feet of runner, I cut the 30' roll into thirds). This was a big hit, and looked so good, they wanted to keep it on the tables for another week. I used the candy cane striped paper, which had a grid on the back, so it was easy to cut. I decorated twelve 6 foot tables and had paper left over. Also had hurricanes and really nice red and white fresh flowers, real candy canes and decorative candy canes.
I also purchased ribbon to edge the paper...but found out I didn't need it, since it looked great by itself.
The wrapping paper runners could be used for any occassion, just be sure to get some with the grid pre-printed on the back, for cutting straight.
