We use maches here, too. It is very common for people to ask for it but I would rather use other things instead. Some maches come in "oatmeal" and a green. I like those better than the white as white draws the eye to it.

We use a very low mache and greens can cover much of the mache.
We buy them 100/box they sit inside each other and can stack them 12-15 high on our back room shelves (about 18" hgt). Cost less than .90 each
#9 CRH they will utilize a full block of oasis with water room but you dang sure have to make a balanced design (great learning tool for our designers over the years) and our director loves them because of the low center of balance. Good fit on his stands. Our customers are very frugal and unless they want a big showy container, they want a cheap container with $$ in flowers.
