I
s what it shows under it!!!! She is Zips by the Gates (Gates being her last name). So not only is her shop getting an ad in it's bubble but now it's customized!!! So the average customer would think it was for her shop!~

Seriously now this is out of control.

EDIT ~ I see now it's for Gates TN it looks like and Google matched it up because of her name... still STINKS!

ok the Google ad guy has called a couple times, I've had no time to talk I can call him back. What do you think it will cost to buy the ad in the bubble? should I even call him back to discuss it?

I can't believe I missed this thread.

I can tell you ladies and gentlemen that from experience this thing has cost us dearly and to quote another post.

In a perfect world you would be right. However considering the potential revenue for Google of every single pixel on a search page, I suspect we will see a lot more of this, the only things that will limit how far it goes are

2) How much advertising users will tolerate before they jump ship.

I'm jumping ship and I just let them know.

For the past few months I have been getting calls from people asking if we are so and so florist or flower shop. And its been really annoying.

I work hard to to put in Negitive key words such as my compeditors names because those clicks are a waste of time and money. Now I have my owns ads showing up under other local business bubbles and the calls have gotton worse. Not only has Google cost me more money but they have probally made us look like we advertizing whores to my fellow local florists.

I'll see what google says but right now they just lost a sh*t load of money from me.

I could see that something was wrong looking at my access logs and now I know.

How Greedy Is Google?

Well here it is and this is just another reason why you just can't let a company get this big.

I keep getting flash backs from my days with Yellowpages.com

Here is the proof that its just more wasted clicks on a search term that my ad never showed up befor but then all of sudden in November I start getting wasted clicks on a search term for one of compeditors names.

We can say well I could use negitive keywords but come on look at this screen shot and tell me its not out of hand?

Along the same lines, Google is preparing to rearrange their pages as well. They are already testing, and will be moving AdWord ads from the right column (since savvy searchers generally ignore them) to the bottom below the organic results. This will leave the top 3-4 paid results at the top, however this real estate will now command even deeper pockets to participate.

Since searchers read from the top down, these ads will fall in line with the organic results, and it's thought, generate more clicks...

You can read about it more here: http://www.dmnews.com/will-googles-paid-ads-affect-marketers/article/221025/

Posted links from my G+ account and into a relevant post comment on Mike Blumenthal's blog. It's great you've been able to track and share this data!

added: Joel Headley, a senior member of the Google Maps team, just posted this on my G+ post: "Great feedback, Thanks!' If you have anything to add, put it in a comment there since he'll also see it. :)

Here is the response from google Adsupport.
Hello Eric,

Thanks for writing back.

Eric, I completely understand your concern. As you have correctly pointed out, the reason your ads are showing up under your competitors listing is because you have similar broad matched keywords.

I am talking with the specialist team to understand if there are any steps that can be taken to ensure that this does not happen in the future.

Whatever. I'm going to have pull some more logs out to see what is going on.
