Hey Everyone, My name is Sonya and I am from Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia. I have been running our family owned florist shop for over 7 years now and been in business all my life since I have been 4yrs. Our shop is incrediably busy and there is always very little time to do much but think of flowers. I am happy to finally find a forum for florists because I have always belived it is not what you know it is who you know that gets you places in life:)

Lovely to meet you too. Its always great to talk to different people with different backgrounds. Yes Australia is definately a great place to visit. I do love it here but I would love to travel overseas a little bit more than I have....but don't we all:)

As far as things I like in the florist enviroment is I love creating bouquets and arrangements. It is such a joy to come to work and just know that today ( like everyday ) you walk in knowing what you want to create...regardless of whether the customer likes it or not...you have put your heart into it and you know that in itself its a work of art.

I have a very good team on my hands though and the shop has grown because they are with me. It is definately a team effort and I could not do any of it without my girls. I also let them go free with what they want to create and use. Its best to let their imagination go wild because then you get results and they have felt great about it.

What I do not like about floristry is for SURE valentine's day and mothers day. Everything feels like it is all factory made and because you have 50 million orders to get out you do not seem to care as much for what you are doing....which in return makes it impossible for you to enjoy the day hahahaha It definately has become far too commercialised and its all about money....thats what I hate....money is nice...I am sure alot of people would agree....but is it worth it??

Thank you very much...I feel welcome already...I can't wait to talk to other people around the world and get their views and ideas....as I also have plenty up my sleeve which I am only too happy to give.

Well what would you like to know about QLD ( queensland )? Shoot I can answer anything :)

Tell me...how is American style florists doing....are you guys pretty old fashioned in with babies breath and carnations or do you do things differently?

Do you sell more bouquets put into vases....or more arrangements...whats the hottest trend where you are?
 
Hey Navybrat....its great to see other aussies on here...I thought it would be mainly American people...Obviously more people on here that are in Australia than I thought:)

So you are in New Jersey? How are things over there going in the flower industry? Are you always looking out for new ideas and creativity?
 
Hey Karla,

We are located on Victoria Avenue....right near the macdonnell road round about. Its a good spot where we are as its right near the hospital and the cementry...but its a pretty busy road so there is always a good flow of traffic.

How bout yourself?
