How much do you charge for a 3 rose bud vase with filler greens and ribbon? Just checking to see if I am in line with others. My competition charges 18.95. I have been charging 24.95 for a very long time but wonder if that is too high since now I get short stemmed roses for less than I used to. We still sell them very well at 24.95.

We do it for $25.00-- and since we do not deliver anything under 35.00 they usually upgrade to 5 if they need it delivered!

I thinking playing the "match" game can prove to be detrimental. Re-assess the reasons for your price and if there is enough room to drop the price and still make money, then do it... if not, don't. :)

Do you notice that not many people are purchasing 3 rose bud vases from your shop and that's why you want to consider dropping your price? Or are you just wanting to be more even with the competition?

$20 but really, I seldom have an order for one. Weirdly, I used to have to stock at least one bv of each color rose because they were one of the hot sellers. When we moved ONE BLOCK four years ago that all changed. The ONLY time I make budvases on speculation is for Valentine's Day and even that has dropped 3/4. I would get in two cases (96) for Valentines Day and make them as fast as I could and sell out with plush on them. Now, I don't go through more than 24 for Valentines Day. I don't get it, but it's all good, a lot less labor since it takes just as long to package a budvase as it does a dozen rose vase! :)

Does your competitions design look exactly like your design? Or is it that you use a better grade of roses, greenery, accent flowers, ribbon, etc. I wouldn't assume that I need to drop my price before seeing it for myself.

I also agree with the others, unless you are loosing orders only because of the price difference, why would you drop your price?

It's not usually sold on the phone. It is an in store purchase unless they ask for that. It is just that I seem to be higher than my competition on the standard type things. 6 roses vased, dozen, etc. I am wondering if I am losing biz to these guys. Just trying to figure a few things out. Of course my arrangements are better. :)

I charge $16.95 for that here but rarely sell em. 4 in a vase at $19.95 sells better. I would call all the florists in your area and price it, I do that esp around holidays

Personally, I don't worry about what my competition is doing. I don't ever call them for price checks. We charge a fair price based on the type of flowers and supplies we purchase. If someone is buying on price only, this is not the shop for them. We are looking for customers who appreciate quality of flowers which ours last anywhere from 1 to even 3 weeks. We also are looking for customers who want not only beautiful flowers but a great design too.

Every shop is different based on where you are located, population, number of competitors, what you specialize in, etc.

We charge $17.99. While I don't necessarily think you have to try to compete on price, there's something to be said about being competitive on the "basic" stuff. I would be more concerned if your single stem roses are a lot higher priced than all your competition. That's something that people remember the price of. They remember the price of a dozen roses too. We have two prices that we offer on a dozen vased. Our 40-50 cm. "cupid's dozen" for $32.99 and our "classic dozen" for $54.99. It's a perception thing. If your basics are a lot higher than your competition, the perception will be that you're higher on everything and then pretty soon your seen as the "expensive" store in town. That can be detrimental to your business. Like it or not, most people shop on price (at least partly). It may be better to have some competitive prices on the things that people and then raise your prices a little more on the stuff that's harder to compare like custom pieces. I think we need to be a little flexible with our pricing and not so set on a strict mark up.

The fact that you are asking and wondering makes me think that you see it as a potential issue. Have you had customers make comments or compare your prices in the past?

I don't do byd vases!!! Don't like them, can't make one look good - would rather sell a blooming plant or green plant.

I do them for $10, but can't remember the last time I sold one, maybe it was Valentine's day.....we will deliver anything even one balloon if you pay our delivery fee of $8. I always upsell, 5 roses in a 4" cube with variegated pitt looks way better--much classier and I can still do it cheap for $20, easy sell and it will take less time (I am with you DLN hard to make them look good, I usually end up fussing with them too long). My customers associate budvases with grocery stores so if they came to me they expect a little better. I have the bud vases hidden. If they want them they have to ask for them, I only display the stuff I want to sell.

19.95 everyday
29.95 Valentine's Day
24.95 Mother's Day
We sell over 50 cash and carry on the holidays at these prices and a couple a week at other times. Price doesn't seem to be an issue...men really like to buy roses....and I think the 3 rose bud vase seems safe to them.

Our 3 rose bud with a touch of baby's breath or caspia is 19.50. We normally do not have this in our cooler but instead we do 2 roses with a small teddy bear. The teddy bear is a vase huger and works for all occasions. That we retail for $28.99 and sell a few a week. Some weeks we are making up new ones everyday, others we may just move 1 or 2. They like the idea of the bear and the roses, it is like 2 gifts in one. It is super easy to add one of our 2.50 mylars on a stick, they love the idea of balloons, roses, and a keepsake teddy bear for about $30.00.

all depends on your clients....younger college age prefer bud vase with bear( hugger). To meet our min for delivery we
offer 3 rose b/v with either a small bear or a balloon. It seems to get the younger, less sophisticated ones. We do a lot more walk ins so it is easier to sell b/v. forholidays we sell tons with bears (our low end product).
