The Buzz tonight is that a Yahoo/Bing Deal is nearly a done deal:

Reports: Micro-Hoo Search Deal Coming Within 24 Hours

There are reports coming out of the Wall Street Journal and AllThingsD that a search/ads deal between Microsoft and Yahoo will be announced within the next 24 hours. According to the Journal’s coverage:
The likely deal, which has yet to be approved by either company and could still be delayed further, involves Yahoo agreeing to use Microsoft’s search engine on its own sites. But in a shift from earlier discussions, Yahoo would handle selling the text ads that appear next to the search results for its sites and some Microsoft sites, say these people, boosting Yahoo’s share of the search advertising business . . .
Both companies have expressed concern with whether a deal that consolidated the search market under Microsoft or Yahoo would be opposed by regulators for cutting a player out of the market, people familiar with the discussions say. These people say both sides plan to argue that any deal would help both businesses fight online advertising leader Google Inc., enhancing competition.
PaidContent also has some additional information about the potential deal. We’ll weigh in more fully on the terms and implications if/when they’re formally announced.
Yahoo's SERPs will disappear, replaced with Bing's. How are you positioned there? Will this have a positive or negative impact on your search positioning?

For us, it's a good thing. Y has been very heavily influenced by their paid inclusions, so I say 'yay' for the moment.

Good? Bad? Thoughts? Are you ready?

I was wondering what was going on this morning when I heard on the radio a google ad promoting using adsense on content websites.

Now to hear this makes me really wonder whats going to happen.

I have seen huge leaps in traffic from Bing this month so it will be interesting to see what happens.

I have always enjoyed the traffic from yahoo and at times it sends a good amount of quality traffic.

Google may be the king of traffic but the quality is up and down. There has even been times when I have seen yahoo real close in traffic but the las 6 months have switched back to google.

All I can say is good luck everyone!

It’s Finally Official, Microsoft & Yahoo Make A Deal, Yahoo Gives Up On Search

Big press release today. Maybe Ryan & Cathy would be kind enough to let us know what the implications might be for us.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. and REDMOND, Wash. — 29 July, 2009 — Yahoo! and Microsoft announced an agreement that will improve the Web search experience for users and advertisers, and deliver sustained innovation to the industry. In simple terms, Microsoft will now power Yahoo! search while Yahoo! will become the exclusive worldwide relationship sales force for both companies’ premium search advertisers.
For Web users and advertisers, this deal will accelerate the pace and breadth of innovation by combining both companies’ complementary strengths and search platforms into a market competitor with the scale to fuel sustained development in search and search advertising. Users will find what they care about faster and with more personal relevance. Microsoft’s competitive search platforms will lead to more value for advertisers, better results for web publishers, and increased innovation and efficiency across the Internet.

Microsoft has created a mini website about the deal:

One thing that comes to mind is that we'll have one less platform to manage PPC campaigns on :)

Yahoo! has struggled to do anything right, while MS has really tried to innovate (points for effort, anyway - and I do like Bing overall). The biggest thing Yahoo! has to offer is traffic & market share. Their strengths are in media and creating content (which my get tells me MS would have screwed up if they bought Y! last year).

Hopefully having a strong #2 will make both parties better.

I like AdCenter so much more than YSM, so this appears to be best of both worlds.

I just heard it too. Not sure if it has anything to do with the merger though, but it is interesting nonetheless.
