Hello fellow florists!

I have an upcoming wedding where the bride wants simple arrangements of hydrangea and roses in a cone-shaped container, that's hung from the pew aisle.

Here's what I'm talking about:

http://weddings.theknot.com/ODB/the..._details=Ceremony,Ceremony+Decor&pageIndex=25

Does anyone know where I can get the cone containers? Is is possible to make it out of fine stationary (paper)? If so, what kind of water source would best be used since I'll be using hydrangeas?

Any advice would greatly be appreciated!

I was just looking at this site the other night. Not sure what your budget is, but these would be very helpful! http://www.pewcones.com/

I also use Posey Pockets. Love the product!

They're cheap, I think between $7 and $10 for simple ones, with no embelishments....I forgot to mention that they can customize them in any colour and embelishments you may want to add....

I make these with wall paper from home depot! Easy and really inexpensive, you can
buy a whole roll for 12 to 15 bucks. Don't remember the details, but , I think I made
18 from one roll. You can special order it. It is thick and pretty too.
I didn't water proof, I just used large tubes.

the first cones look like sisal cones...available from accent decor, they are water proof. We have made them also and use heavy card stock that can be covered with fabric. For the flowers water source we use water tubes.
hope this helps.

Thank you so much everyone for your suggestions! It's no wonder I love this forum. I, too, was thinking of using the big water tubes. I just wasn't sure how to water proof the cones, but now I have some great ideas!

I know it's a couple of days late but you can go to smithersoasis.com and there is a nice little bit of info there with cones and water sources

You could also do the flowers in straight handle bouquet holders and set them inside. I use pew cones all the time, but I have glass ones so the water can go right inside.

You can also use cemetary cones. Cut off the spike on the bottom and cover the cone with whatever you want. Drill holes in the sides near the top and hang with ribbon or cord. You can put oasis in it or even fill with water and use it as a vase. Hydrangeas scare me, the more water the better!

I like the idea of using the cemetary cones. They would be great for a bride that wants them larger than my glass cones.

Excellent idea!

Arrive Alive

Arrive Alive might be a solution-This is a new product that can take the place of water tubes and is less expensive. You can call John Henry -1 case is 53.90 and that includes 100 pieces of foam, rubber bands and plastic bags.

I use cemetary cones too. They are large enough to provide a good visual impact on the pews. But I always have too much labor into covering them and making them look beautiful. This thread has inspired me to look into the pre-mades. Besides, I get the heebie-jeebies using cemetary hardgoods for a wedding...
