What inspires your designs?

I'm not a designer, but I've lived with one all my life and I grew up in the middle of a northern Ontario forest. Front yard was a lake, back yard was the forest so I love all manner of flowers and greens.

Like most generational 'florists', when you grow up around a shop, you see so much. The first shop my mom worked at was owned by a lady from the Netherlands and she use to give me tulips so it was my first 'favorite' flower. Love them, especially the bold and rich colours.

As I've gotten older, I've found new loves - I absolutely love Milva roses, Cornice Gerbera, pincushion protea, chartreuse dendrobiums - where to begin, I love them all.
I'm a big fan of modern design, crisp lines, flowing curves, bold colours. I'm a big fan of monochromatic pieces and for simple striking artistic pieces.

Inspiration comes from even the smallest of things which catch my eye. Somedays it might even just be the ant that has taken to using our shop as its hallway as it meanders on to other places. Beautiful websites such as Bethos provide other base ideas to expand from. On a daily basis, the clients provide the inspiration... their situations, reasons for purchasing etc all play into the creativity.

Our recent ice/wind storm has provided much inspiration and product to use as well!

What a marvelous way to explore new ideas. Thanks for the thread Joe!
