Attached is a mock-up centerpiece with 33 roses for an upcoming wedding. (The roses are dead because I pulled them out of the garbage). The MOB wants the design packed tighter so I'm guess-ti-mating another 8 roses to total 41 plus 3-4 extra for spoilage. Using Sahara and Amelia roses only.

What would you charge for this centerpiece?
Your help is appreciated.

that's a lot of roses! I charge $3.00 per rose but I can't see getting 40 roses in that container. Thats a lot of insertions and weight on the oasis.

I agree, it was getting a bit tight but I think I can wedge in a few more stems. The pic is deceiving but the vase opening is 6". My roses cost .95 a stem so we are pretty close on what we both charge.

How many centerpieces will you need to do? You should be able to negotiate price, and do much better than .95c, I would hope you could get them down to at least 65-75c especially since you really only need 40cm.

Adam, yes she would be able to negotiate price, however to do this same centerpiece with 40cm rose it would not be the same the head size is small the lower the grade...

I would have to charge about 150-175 on these and that is with out know how much the container is...Centerpices like this are difficult at best to get the value in only because roses are cheap everywhere, but they are smaller and lesser roses and people just don't understand that there is a hege difference between a rose that is 40cm and 30 cents and a 70cm 95 cent rose....it is vast

I hear you Lori, but it's not always the case, I get a lot of 40-50cm roses, and the head sizes are usually the same as 60-80cm. Depends on grower. yes, there is always a risk, and even if you get 60-80cm, there is still a risk of heads being smaller, depending on time of year. We bring them in early and leave out to open more....so it takes less roses to fill up the bowl.

I also agree with the earlier post, that seems to be a lot of roses to use, I would think you could get away with 25 tops? JMO

Not knowing the cost of the container my guesstimate is 135.00-150.00
at 50 centerpieces we are talking 2000 roses--or 1000 per variety--talk to your wholesaler and negotiate a good price
I recently got 2600 roses for a party (only 18 centerpieces!) and received a good discount
you need to order early as some farms do not have the quantity on a given week!!

I have found with 40 cm roses their heads are tiny.....but after a week of nurtering they open up nicely. I have been disappointed upon arrival and then pleasantly surprised. You just never know.

I would say $125 each - less if you can negotiate a discount with the wholesaler. I always try to pass on the discount to the client if I'm getting one.

$150 for me.

MOB wants fuller than that picture, but I don't know that adding more roses is the answer. Can you use spray roses for interest and depth? Or can you do a sporadic layer of roses deeper and then do another layer 1/2" or even inch out from that?

Last time i had amelia roses they were really small. I agree with Linda in perhaps using spray roses as well for depth and visual interest.

If the container is yours, why not just not charge them rent. I would charge £50 -£60 per table for this but i agree it has to be perceived value. By using other flowers, you could achieve the same "look" but not the same price...

Good luck :) Oh and i really like the design btw ..
