Over the past five years, White and members of the FTD team have crisscrossed the country to help flower shop owners revitalize their visual merchandising and attract new customers.

White’s talents as a designer and communicator have been recognized throughout the industry. Each year, he participates in many association’s programs, workshops and symposiums. In 2010, Keith represented the USA and FTD in the 13th Interflora World Cup held in Shanghai, China. Since his induction into AIFD in 1996, he has presented three main stage programs. He is currently featured in the FTD University video library at www.ftduniversity.com.

Last year’s winner, Reed’s Flowers in Waco, Texas, sought an update to take advantage of the increased foot traffic the town was experiencing.

“We wanted to get more modern, more attractive, so people would come in and browse,” said shop owner Debbie Reed.

White’s goal was to give the shop a contemporary look, while maintaining its heritage, and to increase merchandising. He painted the showroom a sophisticated gray; designed vignettes for several seasons and themes, including fall, Christmas, wedding and baby; created a chic consultation area, complete with a metal chandelier; added a decal to the front door listing the shop’s hours, website and phone number; and incorporated vintage-style signs and old family photos to solidify the shop’s modern-retro vibe. Past Makeover Magic projects have included updating store layouts, adding new fixtures and creating attractive product displays. The goal of the makeover is to help attract more local business to the flower shop by designing a space as visually exciting as the shop’s designs.

The contest is open to all FTD Member Florists in the United States and Canada. Applications will be accepted through Saturday, July 22. To enter, visit www.FTDi.com/makeover.
