hi - i have browsed around this group a bit - seems there are alot of good folks here, generally, i like what i see --

however, for me, the flowerchat community is a limited resource as we are WS Free and fight daily for our independence form the WS Way of life --

i would really like to see a forum topic for "Direct Send Resources" - i have alot of experience in this area and would be glad to contribute my efforts...

Phillip

Anyone here is free to start a thread on any subject they feel worthy...

Perhaps, your thoughts regarding this subject would be good in either "Shop Talk" or in the "wire Service" Forums...

mark

thank you for your thoughts,

how many of us are WS Free and work florist to florist direct??

i am not talking about "Shop Talk" or in the "wire Service" -

i am talking about what is a way of life for us -
the wire services vision and corporate goals are the antithesis of mine... and many other independent florists - whose numbers are growing daily...

i have searched, and no where in this forum do i see a support topic, or parent level category dealing with issues related to working without ws support and affiliation

rather i am thinking, it would be nice to dedicate a top level "Forum Topic" sililar to what the "Business" header is - this way folks that want to work away from ws affiliation have a permenent top level "Forum" to work in -

not something, to "start a thread" and get mixed up on topics -

I don't know how many members here are WS free.
I know Blue is and there is a flowerSoft customer that only "lurks" that is also ws free.
It would not be a bad idea if there are enough members interested.

There has been some "behind the scenes" talk of starting a F2F connection here, kinda on the back burner for now... technologically it's easily possible, but I'm still thinking on the best way to go about it.

Part of the problem is, volume of use, and cost-effectiveness...

i have been "doing it" for years and the technology is already in place, and in use on the www - some 5 or six years ago i put together a site on the www called directblooms - the site is free, to access as well as list, this has been the single tool enabling me to be ws free - i would be glad to share my resources with a good cause please checkout the site - use f2f as user and pass

- as things are now - some listings are hoplessly out of date and search is slow - but it works... looking to maybe revamp is - make searches faster...

The Find-a-Member service is still in Beta status until I can get more time for programming. Maybe sometime soon I'll be released from the retail end for a while...

Meantime, I'm always willing to open a forum if there is enough interest.

Does "this technology" require additional keying in of data? Or does it interface with various software platforms already in use in the floral industry?

If not, it is most likely not an option for many shops, due to the increased work load of double entry.

Boss is right - Double entry makes for a much bigger "bogey." TF works for me at below "minimum wage" so it's hard to justify moving to a different system.

catching up on replies...

snip--->"this technology"

the site is simply a database of florists - sorted by zip code - with a "pionts" rating system - the florists i am most comfortable with wiil come up first... within a fifteen mile radius and then i "call them" - this is the technology - personal contact, serving as a agent on behalf of my client, working to make sure they get what they expect --

has worked well for 5 years - i could see it being a problem with a large callout shop.. though...
