Video How to clean roses

OMG!

Who in their right mind would find that to be funny. It is incredibly offensive and detremental to flower shops everywhere.
I forced myself to watch the entire thing. I looked for a real flower shop by that name and did not find one. If they are real florist,
they are terribly misguided in posting this and I would hope that they would remove it ASAP.

I would never find myself sending an order to someone like this, who finds delight in making florist look bad.
Makes me wonder who is really behind this? Note the comments about dirty supermarket flowers.

Hope someone can come up with the purpose and persons behind this thing.

Wow!

As a casual watcher, the video made me laugh. As a florist, it made me cringe. I just wish they had ended with a message that you, the consumer, could avoid the pain & embarrassment by purchasing perfectly prepared roses from your local florist.

I didn't laugh, I thought it pitiful and am hoping it's "tongue in cheek". Even my granddaughters can strip roses without injuring themselves. Did these fools have a youtube channel? If so, they need help..

It was a sketch that was ment to be funny. It wasn't for real.

I get that it was supposed to be funny......Unfortunately I believe it missed the mark on hilarity for me.

I imagine it was an attempt to do exactly what Sabrinas said, giving consumers the message that they should not try DIY. If I were a consumer contemplating purchasing roses to "do myself" for whatever reason and caught that video, I would be highly offended that "florists" thought so little of me.

I checked out their Facebook page. It outlines their future plans to demean, and make fun of florist.

It now makes sense to me that they are not real florist, just young people looking for a path to fame at the expense of our industry and each of us individually.

It is incredibly offensive! How did they choose our profession to make fun of? I don't see the public viewing this as "in fun", I see them thinking florist are that stupid and unprofessional, with children who are worthless, and employees who are amoral. Do we stick our fingers with rose thorns sure, is the local supermarket competing with us, yes. But how does that turn into a comedy about our real life struggles to stay in business?

We all work very hard to service our customers. Whether we are bi racial couples, same sex couples, or traditional couples, what the he** ever!
This is offensive, and with it being filmed in Calif., I can think of one lovely professional couple we all know and love, who just might take hurt and offense to this crap.

This thing serves no good purpose, and they should take it down.

JMHO

Really?

I didn't stop patronizing restaurants when Lenny and Squiggy opened Dead Lazlo's.

( Give yourself a star if you know the Pop Culture Reference ! )

Hi-

I'm Destri, the creator of the web series Modern Family Business. I saw that a bunch of views of our teaser on YouTube came from Flower Chat so I logged in to see where it was posted. To my surprise, I saw that people were offended by the video! It's ok if you don't find it funny, humor is so subjective, but I thought I should let those of you who were truly offended know the spirit in which this series is being made.

It comes from a positive place—from someone who understands and loves the flower business. I especially understand what the smaller shops go through because my parents have owned a small suburban florist for 30 years. I'm extremely proud of my mother for opening the shop when she was a single mom trying to figure out her path in life. Thirty years later, she couldn't be happier (she definitely found her path)!

The point is not to make fun of florists—the flower shop is just the setting where some funny characters live and work—like 30 Rock, Parks&Rec and Cheers (sorry, old reference, but you get the point). If anything, the series will shed some light on the hard work small business owners (especially florists) put into keeping their doors open everyday. We have sweet, funny and relatable characters who I sincerely believe many of you will like. But it is a comedy, so yes, there are people who sometimes act dumb, or silly or frustrated (in a comedic way) but there isn't one disparaging word uttered about the flower business—because I love florists!

I hope that sheds some light on things, but if not, please feel free to pose them to me here (or Facebook or Twitter or YouTube or private message).

Thank you,

Destri Martino

P.S. Thank you Darkles for sharing the link with this community! We really believe florists will enjoy the show.

Well I thought it was hilarious, I guess that is why there is so many different types of humor, we all like different things!

I showed it to my 25 yr old daughter and she laughed pretty much the whole way through it.

I'm very afraid that might be a generational thing in which case, I have more work to do! Now where in google is there self-help for becoming "hip"? (you're laughing at that word, huh?)

Wow. Lighten up. It's a spoof! Most of our favorite comedies (and dramas for that matter) are over-the-top regarding the industries they represent. Anybody ever hear of a comedy called "The Office"? Yeah, we all think that's the way a real office operates and now I have no respect for office workers everywhere! (P.S. that was sarcasm if you didn't get that) Sheesh!

Yeah I also vote lighten up.

I actually learned something from the video. At the shop where I used to work we always had a rose stripper machine and in my flower shop we don't have one. I've been really stripping the roses the hard way. I need to try that nifty tool on the roses. Do you guys really use that thing? It doesn't seem like it would work that well without causing damage to the stem. I always thought that tool was specially made for stripping Christmas greens. Learn something new every day around here.
