You may get some hollow stems which can make them difficult to insert without crushing them. I've tried using a pipe cleaner inserted into the stem to give it some support. You'll probably need to buy extra - luckily they're inexpensive.
you can also insert a short piece of wire through the center of the flower down into the hollow part of the stem. Just takes a little bit--about an inch or so--to keep the hollow part from collapsing. . .
