go the the 'more replys below current depth.. I have it set to hybrid, and I think 40 per page?? but if the thread continues I seem to need to come back up to click on this "more replies below current depth" thread.. what am I not catching on to??
I do like the new format..tho":treadonme

More replies below current depth means there are more replies to that particular message. The hybrid view defaults to showing 3 replies deep from every message ... more would really clutter the screen and cause performance issues for the board. Clicking "more replies below current depth" will cause that particular chain of messages to expand to show the whole thread. The newly exposed messages will have a different gray background to highlight them.

Being honest with you.....

don't think I like this new format Ryan...as much as you may think that all these new "tools" are "enhancements", it's NOT the "idea" behind this chat site.
Simplicity is the most powerful "tool"!!

Different strokes....

Now that I am use to it, I MUCH preffer this format....

Seperation of topics is wonderful, and the "tools" once learned are handy.

Folks can set it up, however they want the threads to appear, and somewhat customize the board to their liking.

I think I like the old format better, but do like some of the new tools.
It seems to me that with the old format you were able to read and follow the posts a little easier.

For what it's worth, I prefer this version. I like the draw down menus and the ability to structure what I want to look at.

As a side note, my mother (who is very non-tech) seems to like this version as well. Easier for her to follow.

I really don't see much difference between the 2 versions. If you don't like the new tools you really don't have to use them. Everything else works about the same as before, the format hasn't really changed. Just click "New Posts" at the top to see new posts and then post a reply on the posts you want to reply to, how much more simple than that does it have to be?

My thoughts, exactly ... very little operational difference, just a little more polish. The new bells & whistles allow us to build even more of a community. Things like profile pictures, integrated live chat (finally!!) and some IM integration improve the communication between members.
