Hello everyone! I desperately need your help. I recently wrote a grant proposal idea and submitted it to the Pepsi Refresh Project on behalf of the Kanawha Charleston Animal Shelter. The grant is for $50K that will be given to our ocal shelter to start a project called Cans for Companions.

In order for the shelter to receive this grant, they need your vote. Pepsi has agreed to put my idea in the running, however, in order to win the money, they need votes. The voters will decide who wins.

Right now, this idea is ranked at 225. We need to be in the top 10 to win this money.

You can help me make this idea a reality by going to http://www.refresheverything.com/cansforcompanions
and vote for my idea.

You need to register to vote. You will receive 10 votes per day but you can only vote for a specific project once a day. The other 9 you can help others receive grants to.

Please, as a personal favor to me, pledge that you will go to the website and vote everyday through the month of July.

Also, please pass along this information to all your contacts. Anyone from anywhere can vote. They do not need to be residents of Kanawha county.

I plead with you to take this project very seriously and make a commitment to vote once a day.

Last year thousands of animals lots their lives because of lack of resources at our shelter. This costs you nothing except a few minutes of your time each day this month.

Thank you so much for helping me make this dream a reality. The animal shelter is my only other passion (than the flower business!).

Forward this information to your other contacts. This is really important!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

You have my vote... daily. :)

Thank you so much for the votes!! This has been a long hard road to even get to this point. I had this idea a few years ago but no money to make it happen. Then, when this opportunity came along, you had to submit it starting at 12:01AM and I fell asleep while waiting a woke up at 2am. Of course, they already had their limit of submission. I had to wait another 30 days and try to submit it again. It was received and then I had to wait another 30 days to see if it was in the running. I was advised on July 1st that it is in the running and now I am actively seeking votes to get this money for our shelter.

I cannot express how much I appreciate my FC family helping me with this project! We are now ranked at 185. Last night it was 224 so there has been progress so far.

done, keep bumping the thread pat to remind us all to vote :) and well done for doing something so worthwhile!! I love animals and so does my husband...

Anyone that has any suggestions to get the word out, I'm all for it! I feel like I am basically a one horse show here. I don't see that our local media cares about this and I am not getting much help from the local people. You know, it only takes a few minutes a day, costs nothing, and can change lives. My idea will even give someone a part time job for a year, help our area to recycle AND help animals.

Last month, our shelter destroyed 900 animals. They have no choice. They have no room. They have no money. They are receiving hundreds of animals every single week with no letup.

Please take a moment and vote everyday at www.refresheverything.com/cansforcompanions. You don't have to be in my area or even in my country. Please, please, please help me make this happen.

By the way, there is another project called Lunas house. They are attempting to receive the $250K grant to remodel an old car dealership into a shelter. You get 10 votes per day, why not use them up for other causes too!

Here is one that we rescued

I thought I would post this vid here, so people can see what a wonderful chance both the animals AND people get when an animal is saved.

Genny is a prime example of an animal that would quickly be put down. Her size is her detriment, she eats 8 cups of food per day, and even her heartworm is a double dose which is just too expensive for shelters to be able to afford.

We are so glad that there are caring, compassionate people who gave her the second chance that she needed.

Love Mastiffs... love people who rescued him too.

Thanks for the great work you do.

This morning the project is ranked at 177. We are moving up but a long way from the top 10. Please keep the votes coming and tell all your friends and contacts to vote too. It only takes a few minutes a day. www.refresheverything.com/cansforcompanions
