I have been in my current position with Teleflora since June 2008.

No formal floral industry education, but I have worked with small business owners most of my career.

I've heard lots of industry buzz about FlowerChat.

I hope to continue to learn more about the floral industry by joining FlowerChat.

I can share Teleflora news and annoucnements regarding our point of sale systems, MyTeleflora.com and lots more.

I work in Teleflora's Oklahoma City office.

You do know that you are in company of FLORIST right??? this may not be the board for you!!! Not many are to happy with wire service, What would you want to gain from here?? and I hope you have thick skin~ good luck:rofl:

Welcome Danielle. There is much discussion about wire services here, so you will learn a lot about how florists feel about them, both pro and con.

Thick skin is a requirement here, You will need it. It will be interesting to hear your responses to some of the concerns, questions, comments.....Will they be YOUR views or the company's views? I might wish I had not done so later, but I am voting yes on admission.

I do have a thick skin and I am interested in hearing your views on various issues.

RWK, thanks for your vote despite your concerns. I do work for Teleflora, so any posts I might write will be my own thoughts but heavily based on my experience and role with Teleflora. My role at Teleflora involves our technology systems as well as florist marketing/communication.

Well, I am going to jump in feet first into the deep end here and ask - In your opinion, what is the biggest thing that Teleflora does that is a detriment to the local retail florist?

What is your position at TF in OKC....There are lots of jobs that go on there..
I'm Curious to know what you do there.

I hate to say this, but it is wrong, everyone seems to biatch about the WS and OG then when they come on here, every one gives,,,the such a hard time, let them here your stuff, and concerns, Oh I forgot it is OK to train folks in there homes how to take business from you, but not for the folks who can maybe put the word out to help you out some, Which is just so sad, Thick Skin to be here, that is just plain wrong,,,SHe is an employee so its all good, and I say yes with welcome arms...

please elaborate about the suspention of what shops ? and what is the criteria for the quality? Will they be posted ?

My view into your day-to-day world is limited by my role here so I can’t really answer your question about what’s the most detrimental thing we do – I don’t have a good sense of all aspects of your business and that isn’t typically a question that I ask a florist when I meet them. (Maybe it should be?) What is the single worst thing a wire service does in your opinion that hurts rather than grows your business?
Once again, my role at Teleflora primarily involves our marketing communication efforts (newsletters, release notes, tech manuals, brochures, etc.) for our point-of-sale systems and DovePlus. My team is also responsible for MyTeleflora.com, a site I would love to hear your feedback on since we’re working on re-vamping it. Yes, I know it needs a lot of work. J

You'll get several varying answers to this I'm sure, but IMHO, it would be a two part answer...

1) They write rules and then do not enforce them. In fact, they blatantly look the other way based on order volume and allow non-florists to undersell brick and mortar mom and pop slob florists. By their actions, they condone the practice of the order gatherer making more money on an order than the filling florist, and encourage this practice with rebates.

2) Following answer 1 above, they allow non-florists and florists alike to market deceptively both online and in the Yellow Pages, listing themselves in locales they do not service and use the Teleflora logo to gain reputability. Art Conforti runs www.localflowershop.com, most if not all florists listed there, including myself have the Teleflora logo attached to their shop, and I have not been a member for over 15 years, yet Art, being one of their Golden Boys is allowed to masqurade as a good guy, when in fact he's one of the most deceptive thugs in the industry today.

The above would be my first priority if I were asked to clean up the mess FTD and Teleflora have made of the industry... but they are more worried about money than ethics...

she works with the FBC's (field business consultants) who are into the marketing and technology part of TF (that's what she stated) so she has no idea the day to day working of a florist. My tech rep is a good guy we have feverish discussions regarding foisting systems on small shops that have no clue what they're getting into but the FBC's are sales reps pushing POS/marketing/technology.
Welcome - you may read and find out about what a real local florist goes through day after day after day!

Hi Danielle,

I'm glad to see you here too.

I have a question about www.teleflora.com

I placed a 'test' order that I paid for with my personal VISA back in Feb. I sent flowers to my daughter for V-day.

The item I chose stated "no delivery" charge (no problem to me as the consumer - I saved some bucks) but the receiving florist also didn't receive any $ for delivery, only the amount for the flowers. Why is that? Is it commonplace to expect the florist to take the delivery charge out of the arrangement amount? That doesn't seem right to me. Seems to me a proper delivery amount (at least $8) should still be sent to the florist and whoever is offering the deal (in this case TF) should swallow that cost.

Thanks for answering if you can.

Generally, the members of the Wire Services join and then don't participate.

Well V. You aren't the only one who notices that.

The number one thing I would like to see on ESAT is the ability to add and manage my website coupons for myself.

Good luck. You seem like a lovely person, let me me be the first to let you know that you work for the man and the man helps other corporations and dOGS to compete against real hard working florists that work hard day to day. If florists had the choice, in general, they wouldn't be apart of a WS, but they have to and the man knows this and exploits it.

Again, I am sure you're an awesome person, it's 'the man' I have a problem with.

Welcome to FC. :)
