Red dots and guts

Palms,

No THANK GOD! No one has red dotted me .....yet.
However I was reading another post and a person got red dotted.
I know this because that person reponded to the red dot in the same post and quite frankly it seemed like their feelings were hurt.
I felt really badly for that person as I didn't think they had said anything worth a red dot.
So in thinking about it I decided signing you name would be a way to 'right wrongs' so then I posted to see what others thought about it.

I guess it's just my two cents ....but it's two cents in the name of righting wrongs.

dots ,

I know this is really a dumb thing to ask and sure to receive a red dot but I have no idea what you all are talking about? what is a read dot where is it when you get one? and why do you care....just asking to try and stay with it in the group[

quote=Mikey the Flower Guy;190633]Absolutely correct.....I have a list of the anonymous "dotters".....when an admin "thinks" it's become an epidemic, we can do stuff......[/quote]

People care about the red ones because they generally come with a childish nasty remark and make you feel not nice.

The green ones make you feel all fuzzy inside (well me anyway). Its nice when someone says either thanks or yes i agree with that. I green dot all the time - i love it. But then i green dot in real life as well. (not literally lol)

I have received red dots but they did not bother me on iota as i completely knew who they were from. If i got one from my friends on here then it would upset me.

Well, I have only got red-dotted once: That was in response to a post in which I talked about negotiating a year-round price with your supplier and looking for exclusivity in your product lines....both hard goods and fresh product. The red dotter did not the name and simply asked "WTF are you talking about?"

I just laughed at that because I had seen the negotiation process and exclusivity in action.....seen that it worked.....and that it enabled the fellow I was working with at the time to be able to sell two dozen roses arranged at a lesser retail cost that his competitors could....and still maintain a decent profit margin.

So the anonymous red dotter does not know it all and is probably one of the ones floundering in this tightening economy. In the meantime.....We will still exchange information....help each other....and when this economic crisis is over......WE will be the ones standing triumphant.

Many of the red dots that are given out seem to be because one member doesn't agree with another member's point of view...whether it be political, religious or floral related. I think this is a misuse of the red dot. All FC members should feel free to express their opinions in a professional manner. I think red dots should only be given out if a person becomes flagrantly abusive, vindictive or divisive (lying, spreading false info on purpose to hurt another member) in manner....and NOT as a punishment for an opinion or point of view.

I was however, saddened to see that in one of the threads, several FC members call another member "racist" because of her political point of view. I do agree that even though we have freedom of expression, we need to use civility. I truly believe we can discuss topics, even heated ones, without hitting below the belt, so to speak.

I am not a fan of red dots ... I feel that it is childish to give one when you can just express the fact that you do not agree with the person on the board rather than a 'cheap shot' taken from behind the scenes.

I have never given one and I intend never too as well nor have I had received any. Opinions are like a butt hole... everyone has one!
Sometimes I think its the way that we express ourselves that it can sometimes get mixed up in translation!
