Red dots and guts

Yes there is a plug in available for admins - there are hacks to do just about anything one can think of. There's a lot of discussion on it on the vbulletin forums.

It's the internet and one can never assume privacy.

Not that that's a bad thing, just a thing you should be aware of.

I'll bet my reputation that no hacks to read PMs have ever been installed here at FC. It's not the way Ryan nor any of the admins conduct ourselves. We respect eachother and our fellow members too much.

Now, when it comes to who red or green dotted whom, yes, the activity can be viewed by some (not all) of the admins.

As far as "New Applicants " go? Aren't we "supposed" to red or green dot them? Approve or dissaprove ?

Yes... and that's about the only place I've used the red dot (all but two actually). Like I mentioned to another person... I sign all my dots and if my fingers hit send too quickly I'll message the person to let them know it was me. Also, I prefer to use words over dots.

I do like the dot system, and think of the green dots as "atta boys" too. I green-dot a couple of folks a day. I've only red-dotted a couple of comments, other than when voting on new applicants. As far as I can remember, I've signed every one of the dots. Well, I do remember hitting the submit button once before remembering to sign, but it was unintentional.

Really I think we spend too much time fretting over the issue of dots. I was a member here for at least 2 years before I even noticed them, and had no idea what they were about and didn't care either.

OMG, that broke my heart... and was that his dad laughing in the background? Just mean.... I want to red dot that dad!

That Father needs a RED DOT smacked onto the side of his head. What sort of SICK FUC* plays that sort of trick on his child and them tapes it, and then posts it on the Internet?

I know what would should be in the centre(center) of SICK FUC* DAD'S RED DOT
a
BIG L for LOSER!!!!!

I'm new in the flower chat community and I don't have a clue about red dots and greens dots. I take it red dots isn't a good thing. Also, is there an actually chat room to go to, to be able to carry on a chat conversation? Thanks for any info I can get. I need a good teacher. Have a great week!

I just watched that disgusting video. I commented. Child abuse comes in all forms.

Moron.

I like the dotting system....I also like to know if I have hit a nerve with people, to determine who I need to watch out for in terms of how foolish their reason for red dotting....I wish all red dots were signed, heck I wish all green dots were signed, too. I am a very honest person and would not say something outloud that I did not want the person to ever hear, so this goes for typing on the message boards or any kind of comments...My mouth gets me in trouble sometimes because I am so free with it and sometimes crass.

I love to know if people think what I have said is out of bounds because sometimes I am not aware of how it came out...I think there is a nice way to red dot and a not so nice way....a nice way would be to state why you strongly disagree with smeone in an adult manner then sign it, the not so nice way would be to call someone a dumb poopoo head and not sign it and leave it at that...the second way is surely going to piss of an confuse the receiver because at last thought we were a community of adults...

the "dot" system was installed to have a mechanism by which you approve, OR disapprove of a post, or a poster's "attitude/diatribe".....the system has checks and "balances" for those that choose to use the dot system for "vindictiveness".....
FC members..please be smart, think about what you are writing, BUT, I wouldn't worry too mach about the dot system...it's highly unlikely that Ryan, or ANY of the admins, would EVER send Guido to your door....
We DON'T "peek", we DON'T pry, and we DON'T interfere...we DO expect adults of ALL ages to be the BEST that we ALL can be, and we DON'T expect smooth seas all the time, BUT, IF we see posters heading for the "edge" of the world, we WON'T let you fall off, and WON'T let you, "push" someone off.
'Cause, you'all :yourock:

Tracy...and all...

The Administrators have access to all the "dots" and such, we have to to be able to fix things when they go hay-wire.

Only Ryan can see the PM's, but as far as I know he does not peek.

No, I can't. No, I don't.

Correct.

Yes, there are plugins - and no, we haven't installed any.

Correct - there are no hacks to read PMs installed on FC. Frankly, I'm just not that interested :)

Yes Anthony,

It's called "flash chat"

Sometimes people are in there at night time. It's a lot of fun, be warned, we don't always chat about flower shop stuff, sometimes it's racy, sometimes it's really silly.

Once we had a conversation about our spinners... We were all so mesmerized by our spinners, we talked about them for a long time.

It really is a lot of fun, I wish more people would join in on flash chat.

I dont think i can do flash chat properly with the us and canadian and austrailian peeps because of the time difference. I can never quite work out what time it is everywhere else.

I think we take this dotting stuff too seriously. I don't mind the system at all, and don't have a real problem with anonymous comments. If it gets truly out of hand any of us can report an issue to the admins. Part of the reason people may choose to remain anonymous is because private comments can get dragged into the public forum, and sometimes a big deal is made of nothing. We forget that tone, expression and humor can be lost in print, and that one person's sarcasm is someone else's reason to take offense. Life's too short, let's not get get so caught up in it.

Here's my take on the dots a while back.
