Just throwing my 2 cents in here, but don't you all think if you are going to red dot someone you should have the guts to sign the post note attached to it?

I have seen some people on here get their feelings hurt and/or get red doted for what seems like virtually nothing.

signing your name give both sides a chance to explain?

Any thoughts???

Ps. Don't red dot me for this please!!

Dee Dee i agree but generally in my opinion the red dot brigade are the ones who are too coward to get into an adult discussion or to stand by their convictions.

IF IF IF i was going to red dot someone I would quite happily sign my name, although i have to say it would have to take a lot of arrogance before i would do this. A simple disagreement of difference of opinion is, to me, no way justification to red dot someone.

Dee Dee has someone dotted you?

I sign all my dots, red or green.

I don't understand when recipients bring the dot factor into the public view - whether positive or negative, it's private, for a reason.

I used to like dots, when I was new. It helped me to know some of who had respected opinions - it didn't mean that those with no dots weren't worth listening to, it was just a guide.

Now, I think they're becoming pointless, especially with all the public moaning & "on-no-don't-red-dot-me-if-i-say-this" crap." Dee Dee, not directed at you specifically, just everyone who hunches their shoulders in fear over posting something they may get dinged for.

Though I do like the messages I get from people when they send them, I'm beginning to wish they weren't around anymore.

(raising my hand)...yes red dotted...yes the person remained anonymous, my comment in the particular post was in regard to a blatant, rude and condescending comment. Which by the way I did not red dot the person for.

Unsigned red dots are like a coward who throws a blind side sucker punch.

The system itself doesn't bother me....it's the name calling behind the scenes along with the red dot that bothers me.

Absolutely correct.....I have a list of the anonymous "dotters".....when an admin "thinks" it's become an epidemic, we can do stuff......

Seriously, a list of the dotters?
Interesting.

What other lists are there?

Should I be using a tin foil keyboard to type in my PM's & whatnot?

agree with Aileen, I don't mind the system itself, it's that some people seem to abuse it. As life is...

I like the system, I've been here for a little over a year and still enjoy getting green dots.

I used to not say something in fear of getting a red dot. Now.. I write something and think to myself, here comes a red dot. But alas, I have never received one. But, when I do, and I know I will, it won't bother me, but amuse me, because I know it will only be a dot of different opinions.

I have, for the record, given 2 red dots in my FC life. Both were to vote a negative on a newbee. I don't know if that counts though.

NO, a tinfoil "teepee" OVER your keyboard......

Tracy...and all...

The Administrators have access to all the "dots" and such, we have to to be able to fix things when they go hay-wire.

Only Ryan can see the PM's, but as far as I know he does not peek.

thanks for clarifying :)

Dots are seen by some as a Compliment .. It's nice to log in a find that someone has taken the time to acknowledge you, nobody denies that.. but when they aren't signed it is frustrating - positive OR negative.

Why wouldn't you sign them? Really... " Chicken" comes to mind. There is absolutly no basis to having an opinion unless you are prepared to stand up for it.

Apart from that - I really don't get the whole point to them? It is equally as uplifting to recieve a Private Pm or a Visitor Message Isn't it?....

All I can see is that they don't have any real Merit or value to the "rep" system anyway - especially when it seems that they are "averaged" out by the Mods every now and then - If someones wants to explain that to me I'm listening?

To me the only value they bring is the opportunity to interact with others.

sheesh...I wear my metal colander whenever I post...it seems to keep my brain on track.....I tried the tinfoil on my keyboard but then my spelling got worse so I went back to the colander...

When I get a red dot, I'm like wtf, then I think, wait, is this Junior High?

lol I once got a red dot for saying the word 'whoring', but at least Ryan signed his name, so it's all good. I had a good laugh.

... whoring. lol

well,

I used to get all bent out of shape over getting a red dot. But someone said, "you just got it cause they didn't agree with you" easy enough.

I will admit I love green dots, it's like an "atta girl" to me.
I don't like getting red dots, but I will also admit that when I do, I REALLY think about what I said and how it came across. Then if I feel that the red dotter was wrong, well, so what, they can have their opinion too!

What I don't like is the mean stuff that sometimes accompany a red dot.

The best red dot I got came with good advice. It said "I think it's time to step back"
That was good advice at that time. Can't remember if I followed it though.

I don't have a problem anymore with getting red dots without it being signed. I know I can be a bit much to take sometimes so it's OK.

I really don't like to get green dot with out a signature though... that drives me crazy!
