It would be interesting to know something about the age of FC viewers
and how many years you've been in floristry.

I am 76
Have been in industry my life time, started selling at age of 7.
I guess that makes it 69 years.
And I am not quiting untill they find a box that fits a 6'4" Swede

All right, 52 years young, own the shop 7 years.

37 years old and in industry 23 years....

Ok,
37 years old, I'll be 38 this year, but some days I feel 137.

been in biz since I was 12, so I'm working on my 26th year.

I wonder if It's too late to go to college and get a real career????

What's not real about this career?
What other career do you see yourself in? You're great at this one.

ahhh,, It's just me poking fun at myself.

I don't know, I thought about being a mortician, but they have to deal with guts and stuff, and since I don't like guts and stuff, I decided against that.
I like being by myself, so I thought I might want to be an over the road truck driver, until I was 15 and found out that I'm not a very good driver but I am a GREAT wrecker. So I never got my drivers license at all!! I really am not good at driving.
When I was young I was offered a contract with a modeling agency to be a plus size model. But my boyfriend (now husband) didn't want me to take the contract. I would have had to move to NYC, he wasn't going for that. I liked him more than my modeling aspirations. Just knowing I could have been was good enough for me.

I THINK I WANT TO BE A ROCK STAR!!!! Is there a school for that?

Oh Beth that's awesome!!!

The heck with becoming AIFD!! I'll just become a ROCK STAR instead!!
Aw shoot, ages 7 -18 it says, guess I'm too old to be a rock star. dang it.

I am 40 and have been in the business for 14 years...God, and I wonder where my youth went?!?!

I am dying to know who the over 75 fc'ers are...the poll said that there are 2 of you...way to go!!!!! I guess my theory that this business will kill me by age 50 is disproven by the 2 of you.

Im 28 and have been in the business since day 1. Grew up in the back of the shop in a crib. Was selling flowers probably since I could talk, hahaha! Looking to get out of the family business and on my own..

2nd generation.. family started flower shop back in 70.. i was 15 and had to work in the shop.... yuck.... luckily, i grew to love it and have never strayed from here. my mom retired about 5 years ago and i bought the shop. she's here ever day... best free help a person could ask for....
married for 34 years... husband has learned to help when needed... another source of free help... none of my 3 daughters took up the craft although they all will pitch in when i need em... the oldest lives about an hour away and every year for mother's day, she takes a vacation day and helps me on friday and saturday... ( sometimes, valentine's day too )...
