Online Marketing Advantages with Guest Blogging

Guest blogging is unfortunately an untapped market for many businesses.  Choosing to write articles and posts on one’s own site, the business loses out on a potentially wider audience and further benefits that are available.  It doesn’t have to be that way.

As it relates to online marketing, guest blogging can actually become a valuable resource for any type of business:

  • Authority: Helpful posts on another site can help establish the authority of the writer.  In business, trust and open ears certainly go a long way.
  • Audience: The “guest” in guest blogging is quite revealing – by merely posting something on a site that extends your reach, you can instantly drive traffic to your business
  • SEO and Links: As a guest author you can include links back to your site – either in the Bio section of the post (most common), but sometimes also in the article body. All links have some SEO value, and link text diversity is important, so don’t worry if you aren’t always able to post exactly the anchor text you want to rank for. Brand links are important, too!.  Search engines like to see links to your site, especially when they originate from authoritative sites (popular blogs that aren’t spammy).
  • Relationships: Providing great blog content is nice for a business.  Perhaps the guest blogging relationship can reciprocate, where you can provide your readers with a different take on a matter – a specialist voice.  That could open the gates to further guest positing opportunities, and the relationship could lead to other benefits, such as the blog sharing your content.
  • Social Media: Does the blog have an active social media following?  This could increase your exposure, with being featured on the site.
  • Content For Your Site: Guest blogging goes both ways – you can attract new content and help to fill up that editorial voice (and bring their audience to your blog!) by accepting guest posts.

There are several advantages to guest blogging that are inseparable to link building, SEO, social media, and others.  If you’re interested in learning more, please contact us.

  1. I am really a believer of the value of guest blogging. You may not be paid with every post you contribute but it will still be very beneficial to you in a lot of ways. You can look at it as an investment. The rewards may not be immediate but are very promising.

  2. I’ve stumbled upon the site digging deep to find information about becoming a guest poster on other blogs. I am not a florist, but your blog looks to have some more information I need. Do you have knowledge of any guest posting sites out there, made to connect bloggers? Thanks for the post!

    1. @BrianDouglas,

The most popular and useful site for matching up guest bloggers with opportunities is MyBlogGuest.com. It’s useful for getting started and learning the protocols of guest blogging.

Beyond that, look for blogs that you like & follow, sites that have some relevance either to your primary business topic or an area where you have passion and knowledge to share.

      1. I will take a look, RKF! Thanks a lot for the address! The site looks usable, which is a major plus (saw a few that I couldn’t figure out already). Heading over to make an account now, thank you, it means a lot to me!

  3. I think it’s very important to invest time in writing quality articles for relevant blogs in your niche. You can gain more readers and build your online reputation. There seem to be a whole new guest blogging industry right now, with all sorts of people trying to (ab)use guest blogging and cash in on the popularity of guest blogging. Google is also watching of course …

    1. Writing quality content is EXTREMELY important now that Google has Pandas and Penguins and various other wildlife monitoring the internet. Not only that but who wants to read content that rambles or is loaded with spelling mistakes? Nobody, not me anyway. Great advice RKF, thanks.

  4. Wow. I never realized just how beneficial guest blogging could be to both the writer and the host. It seems to really be a win-win all around, with the readers ultimately benefiting from the collaboration. You know, you really could even expand your reach beyond your typical niche audience by joining forces with someone who works just outside your market. I’m definitely going to look into this further.

  5. The relationship building is one of the key things about guest blogging that will foster ANY business, especially online. Guest blogging is great for link building and with highly reputable sites as well. This is a great post!

  6. So guest blogging is posting on someone else’s blog. I can see how that could steal a blogs business. These days I see many blogs only allowing certain comments and not allow affiliate links.

Honestly what I do is I only focus on highest quality content and when I write couple of posts I select two best posts and put it in the guest blogging column, and what I’ve learned is that guest blogging promotes you more as a guest blogger. I’ve done a few and now have been asked to do more, and you can also get your own audience and that’s when the work is done.

    1. True. Although there’s no direct monetary return, guest blogging still benefits the blogger because it strengthens your reputation.

  8. Guest blogging these days still works. As others have pointed out here, the key nowadays is quality content. Aside from the SEO value of quality content, if you are blogging as a guest, you want to make a good impression, as ultimately you are hoping for some visitors to your site, not just the back links for their own sake.

Also I think there’s a lot of value just in the process of becoming a guest blogger. You have an opportunity to reach out to others in your niche and possibly to forge relationships and partnerships that may extend well beyond the blog post.

  9. I’ve noticed a couple of niches that are starting to realize the benefits of guest posting. Besides the added traffic you will get by blogging on another site in your industry you can also show off your skills and become an authority in your field!

You can build trust, show experience and capability that will only lead to more people following you on social media platforms and more visitors to your site. You can also build strong connections with the owners of the sites your are posting on. These connections will lead to other partnerships beneficial to both of you.
