Thank you, Rhonda. What a GREAT article... and surely points out how divided we are!

I fear the attitude "my country, right or wrong". That kind of blind patriotism gives license to doing wrong. I love my country always, but cannot stay quiet when I feel we're doing something that is wrong. Those who have fought to keep us free have done so to maintain our right to speak freely.. whether it's to say "my country is always right" or sometimes "my country is doing wrong".

Awesome... so much to think about. I loved this:
"The beautiful thing about patriotism is, it's everybody's!"

I did not vote in this poll, because I think it's a ridiculous question. It asks Should a Presidential Candidate be considered that will not salute our flag ?

The veiled insinuation seems to be that Obama "will not salute our flag", a notion that I believe we proved was pure B.S. Of course, a candidate who "will not salute our flag" should not be considered. And I don't think one ever has!

It's been disproved to anyone with their eyes open that is....

There's still a couple hangers on that won't see it no matter what - those emails are more important to them than the truth.

"Hey I read it in an email - it has to be true and do NOT show me evidence to the contrary cuz I won't look."

I just had to bump this in case anyone wanted to throw in 2 more cents worth.

all the best,

Mike...a while ago I had posted, that IF Canada elected a Liberal government, we'd better "hope" for an "Obama" win...and IF we "elected" a Conservative government, we'd better "hope" for a McCain win.
Canada elected a "minority" Conservative government...I'm VERY concerned for relations between TWO of the greatest nations on earth, IF Obama takes the house........
I ACTUALLY BELIEVE, in my heart, that Obama, is NOT the better of two choices in the US election...I KNOW people are demanding "change", AND i CAN FULLY EMPATHIZE, but, i can TELL YOU, THAT his message AND platforms, very much resemble a "failed" socialist government that was once elected into power "by accident", to run the most powerful province in Canada...
We soon learned, that sometimes radical "change" is NOT EXACTLY the path to righteousness......or karma, or even solitude....

Mike, according to most Canadians (and other citizens of the world), you are standing with a very lonely group.

I STILL like to be "loved" whether I'm in a crowd, or by my else!!:tongue
According to "popular views", I'm NOT that far off.....Obama is leading by 7 points....do you "realize" how close that is in the US??...
The "end" result will be, NOTHING will REALLY change fast enough, to put jobs, homes, and dreams BACK into the hands, and on the backs, of US taxpayers...NOTHING!!
Though I "understand" the reasoning behind Obama's platform, you're gonna see, that ONCE he "examines" the TRUE fiscal state of the US economy, he WON'T be there LONG ENOUGH, even with 2 terms, to effect ANY kind of true beneficial asset building "formulas" for our beleaguered friends to the south

Is it really necessary to call the president names? Disagree if you want but I am offended by your constant demeaning of the President of the United States.

Sorry Ted, but I'm offended that he trashed my country.

The office itself has no intrinsic respect to me, the person earns what they get by performance, and until he lost the focus and went to Iraq I didn't bash him at all.

He earned it, and that's just the way I roll.

sorry.....

And what does he earn for making sure that we weren't attacked on our soil for the last 7 years? Keeping you safe so that you can call him names ought to be worth a little respect, don't you think?

Let's hope the next president can claim the same record.

And that's the way I roll.

Am I wrong in thinking Clinton kept us safe for 7 years also... and without over 4,000 of our soldiers being killed in the process?

This thread definitely belongs in the political forum and not chat.

Yours has to be at least the third request, but the thread hasn't been moved. I don't know why, because it surely is political.

The point is that terrorist activity is much more active now and without the efforts of Bush and of several other world leaders we would have been much worse off.

Nobody likes war--but there are bad people in this world. All I'm saying is that the President deserves more respect than he is getting here.

Really, I like this being out for everyone to see. It's been interesting for me to see all the different views on this subject.

If it was in a forum that I don't belong to I wouldn't have seen it. This is just good healthy debate. I come back again and again to see what has been written.

I'm one of the weirdos who believes in Obama and The bill of rights. So I think it's extra interesting for me.

But if it gets moved it gets moved. But I hope it doesn't, At least not until Wednesday.

BTW, I turned in my ballot today. It felt good!

You said it Flame!!!....that is so right on.

What differences does it really make where this thread is. If moving it means i can read it anymore than please don't move it. This is chatting at its best, chatting belongs in chat.

He earns a MINUS 10 for the attack that did occur (despite being warned shortly beforehand), another -10 for sitting there like a bump on a log when told his country was under attack, another -500 or so for going after the wrong perps and letting the real ones slip thru the fingers of the mightiest army in the world.

Not to mention all the other various minuses which add up to the worst presidunce in US history.

Poor fellow apparently has "Daddy Issues".

And that's the way he rolls.

Until he invaded the wrong country he actually had my respect Ted. I felt he was the best person for the job right after 911. I was wrong.
