I'm excited to announce that we're now offering an enhanced level of membership within the FlowerChat Community. We're calling this the FC Ads Free membership, but the benefits extend beyond just removing the ads.

Ads Free Membership Perks:

  • No AdSense or Banner Ads displayed on FlowerChat
  • Larger avatar image
  • Larger profile image
  • Use HTML tags within your signature
  • Larger album pictures
  • Blog customization options
  • Higher Private Message capacity
  • Ability to send PMs to other users who are over quota
  • Increased number of PM recipients
  • The warm and fuzzy knowledge that you're supporting the premier florist online community
  • 50% more Casino Cash on purchases
In addition to these, we will be unveiling new premium features in the future (including the possibility of discounted rates on casino cash) that will only be available to upgraded members.

Important note: We want to be very clear that we are not removing or restricting existing free accounts. We're not taking anything away, just adding more for those who want it.

The upgraded membership is available at an early entry rate of $10 / month or $100 per year ($20 savings over monthly). You can upgrade your account here, and cancel any time.

Questions are welcome in this thread.

The biggest hindrance to paid memberships that prevents me and a lot of others from going that route is the incidence of RECURRING charges. To date, I only have ONE paid membership to a site and that is because it does NOT renew automatically.

If you would remove the recurring factor, that would make it more appealing. Most people like knowing and keeping track of where the money is going......Otherwise there would not be chargebacks on credit cards, stop payments on checks, and the like.

If I were to become a subscribing, paid member to FlowerChat, I would not want that to be recurring........you could send out a notice telling me that my subscription was nearly up or something along that line.

Recurring automatic charges - even with automatic bank drafts that the banks espouse......are a real bone of contention for me. I have seen people whose finances get totally messed up because of automatic draft.

Rick,

For $10 / month it's not worth it to chase people down.

You can always sign up for the yearly plan, then cancel the subscription via PayPal. I believe that would do the trick.

For the lowest prices....I can understand the recurring.....You are right in that respect.

In fact, my one paid subscription is to rapidshare filehosting. They have several terms of membership ranging from 3 days to two years. - Six month length and longer are not recurring, the smaller term lengths are.

Can I pay it in one shot Ryan? :)

V

Oh and if we do this are we still able to chat with those who aren't signed up?

For Rick, V, and anyone else who prefers the one-off payments, I've added a non-recurring monthly payment option.

Thank You Ryan - Like Joan, as soon as I am near my CC, I'll join as well.

How about adding some distinctive icon next to the names of paid members? This way, anyone can see who has paid and who hasn't.

Shaming people is a great way to get them to act, you know.

Thank you Ryan. I appreciate being able to care of it all at once.

The thought had crossed my mind ... but I'm very much a "soft sell" kind of guy (note to self: hard sell tactics sell more websites ... <ponder>). I prefer to think people will want to sign up because they see value in what's offered.

As with most things FC, this is phase 1 and therefore open to much evaluation and revision.

Ryan, would it be too much trouble to make the year option non-recurring as well? I started to order just a few moments ago when I discovered that the monthly option was the only one non-recurring.

if I may can I chime in? I have never really had the "donate" explained to me? Tho I don't have a lot to give I would like too. could someone tell me about that? thanks so much.. p.s I have learned so much from this board..Tracy;)

Ask and you shall receive, Rick :)

Non-recurring annual is active now.

Tracy,

The Donate option allows people to contribute to the operating fund of FlowerChat. This pre-dated the purchasing of Casino Cash and Upgraded Memberships. You now have different options to support FC - but of course, membership is still free.
