Official FlowerChat Order Gatherer Registry

In my opinion, anyone who tries by any means to give the impression they are doing business in a town to which they can offer only "Wire service" to is an order gatherer. It is one thing to openly offer FTD service to Mytown, ON and quite another to pretend to be in Mytown, ON. To me it is irrelevant whether the business has a bricks and mortar location somewhere else or not...the question is whether they physically deliver there themselves or not. I look forward to the day when it will be illegal to misrepresent your location. The consumer has the right to know if his order will be brutally discounted or not. We are all getting tired of filling orders from local people going to local people at a 30% discount because some virtual flower shop gathered that order on the internet or from a deceiving yellow page ad.

Paul,
That's why we don't fill for Fl by Sears (they advertise in our yellow pages to try to get orders that we would probably get, some for local delivery!).
IMHO, if any "florist" says, gives the impression, or infers that they're where they're not to deceive the consumer to gather orders then they're scum! They're even worse when they undervalue orders and send them out knowing that any florist who actually has a clue but fills them anyway will not give the recipient what the sending "florist" promised the customer! Of course the filling florist is at fault and never the sending "florist".
And worse again is the "florist" who keeps part of the money intended for the arrangement.

boy talk about a scammer. First of all did ya'll notice the little blurb about pop ups and those not being local florists? When I clicked on my town, the only shop that came up has their roses listed with both TF and FTD for $50 a dozen and this website has their roses at $59.99
How do these guys get away with this stuff?

Afternoon Boss,
That's where I got his name from but I was wondering whether he used to be a contributor on floristboard.com because I recognized the name, was he? I emailed him and demanded my shop be removed from the site. BTW, what is his shop name?

Get this! Using www.whois.sc to search last night gave me the info but now most of theinfo is gone and says the domain is available! Apparently Lorrie Beason at Media99.com is the technical contact.

This board continues to be the "bain"....

of the order stealers!!
It has gained the notariety, as being THE PLACE to come to, for authentic and accurate discussion AND information!!
ALL the contributors, to this board, have taken it upon themselves, to help SAVE our industry, from our past errors of bliss and ignorance!!
Ithink this is a wake up call...if you "noticed" recently, the owner of SIMON SAYS, has been modestly active on this board, after seeing Simon Says missing from the OG registry!.
Make NO MISTAKE...all those order theft specialists, are being scrutinized, reported on, and slowly being "exposed" to readers here, and even though, for every live and active reader here, there are 100, that have NO IDEA, why their business is suffering "order attack"!!
Diligence is key here, it ALWAYS has been, but, NOW, offense is paramount, and defense is our objective.
It WILL BE up to us REAL FLORISTS, to carry this baton, and it WILL BE, up to us, to continue this struggle.
As always, a few good people, can turn a ship, when hundreds, or thousands cannot!!
Reporting from the wonderful Grey Cup City of Regina, Saskatchewan.

Don;t think he has a shop, "MIGHT" be, stress might, an EX-FTD employee (checking) who would know the ins and outs, the orders are not being sent FTD far as I can tell, but someone is helping...

http://www.123count.com/stats.shtml?localfloral doing nothing this is the tracker above might be sending out through floral source it better not because floral source was preaching it would not be like the others and sign up these type operations. there business plan stated fairness to independent shop owners call them 877-231-2478 find out"

I've noticed on a bunch of occasions FSI has been doing things they said they would not do. Heard from one Florist in the US that got an order from FSI it was from Get Flowers.com (Red Lily Flowers) in California, and if any problems came up from the order, that they were suggested to contact FSI directly, opposed to the sending Florist Get Flowers (Red Lily Flowers).

We send them a demand to remove us from their listings last week , as of this morning we have been removed.

Karens & Tinas Flowers, Bradford, Ont

Why would Karens and Tinas Flowers advertise an item like S37-3130 for 74.99 (on www.karensandtinasflowers.com ) when ftd.com sells the same item for 79.99 in US $???? A 109.00 item for 74.99!!! And there are more on their site like this; and there are many more sites out there owned by other "Florists"! I guess settling for 20% of a lower sale and getting a rebate and a service charge is better than nothing!
The Florist's conundrum
Because of laws here in Canada and as I understand also in the US, FTD and TF and for that matter any business, cannot dictate the selling price to their customers (aka "Members") of anything they sell AND RIGHTLY SO... BUT what about the situation that's going on now with all of these sites that are lowballing the price on flowers and creating unreasonable expectations? Now on the surface it seems like they're just offering their customers a good deal which is great, if you can really low ball everybody else and actually deliver it and stay in business! And I'm sure that the owners of the website, if confronted, will claim that their site is just local marketing BUT (you just gotta love those big BUT's) WE all know that some consumer might actually want to send it outside that florists local area, like to Bay Roberts, Nfld,, especially if they compared the price to a site with the real price. So now they need a poor FWOAC will be duped into filling it; either by using the actual menu and losing big time or by realizing the cost and by sending along a "SIMILAR TO VALUE" so the recipient gets something considerably smaller and will eventually understand it was the fault of the filling florist!!!!!!!
What can be done? I'm getting F***ing tired of receiving these crap orders and having to deal with them, so what the hell can we do???????? I don't know if US florists see the same problem but judging by the few orders we receive (we are in a small rural area) it is a BIG problem now growing exponentially!!!

I had an experience with Karen and Tina's a couple of years ago...she gave me hel* for the cost of our flowers. They sell for "far less"...of course it came out during the conversation, they buy at auction etc...

HEy Rock...

Thats why it is so very important to check out each order and where it comes from.

If it's "wierd" in any way, or even $1.00 below my price...it is OUTA here and onto the putz down the street...

THink of this, is it better to fill it, or be kind to your competition and send them a little more biz, or is that give them the biz, or is it a game of SCREW THE COMPETITION ?

In todays economy, NONE OF US, can afford to fill any order we can not make money on ! The days of averaging out volume over the course of a month or quarter are over, today its hour by hour, order by order !

Well, "Rock" I think you said it. Controlling prices is against the law...and we all are happy about that...none of us would belong to a wire service if we HAD to sell each item in the catalog at a pre-set price.

I have seen a lot of posting on the boards where florists seem to take the "suggested retail price" for an item as "THE PRICE EVERYWHERE" for that item. As I see it, it's always a guessing game, and the filling shop and the sending shop have to communicate. Eventually we all learn who to send our orders to. My prices are different than the store down the street, so I don't expect to know the prices for every shop everywhere.

And a comment on websites.....MINE is set up to try to get orders from new customers searching the internet to get a delivery made in TORONTO. It certainly is NOT aimed at other florists! I know that there may come a small percentage of customers that MAY want to send out of town and then my pricing might become a problem...but my attitude is that I will LOVE to find a solution for the problem once I have it. For the moment I am just happy I got a site up at all...every day brought up a new issue I had not thought about that had to be resolved.

Time to add.......

Vancouver Flower Company.......etal

they are now hiding under the name 60minutesflowers.com, advertising on pay per click with a heading of Toronto Flower Shops!!! Check the source code of their FTD created site and it's Alfalfa flowers in Vancouver......not listed in the FTD directory, but checked the phone # and not listed......but when I went further into the site I did fine a phone # for questions about your order and yep it belongs to Vancouver flower company......

They also operate several other sites including northamericanflorist.com that was asked about on this board last week

I say add them!!! NOW!!!
